Chomp had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Cloe Wilder, an Indie-pop singer and songwriter who just released her new single “It’s True”. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Lana Del Ray and Lennon Stella, these new release singles will keep you calm and collected.
Chomp: Tell me about your background, how did you get started in music?
Cloe: I don’t come from a musical family, no one else is as into it as I was. When I was 11 I ended up recording a cover in a studio, it was my first time ever setting foot in a studio and it somehow got sent around to producers.

Chomp: Awesome, so are you from LA?
Cloe: I’m from Clearwater Florida so we switch between Florida and LA.
Chomp: Have you ever been to Austin? Any plans to?
Cloe: I would love to go to Austin! My family and cousins really want to go there so we have talked about that too. I’ve only ever been in Texas on lay-overs and we had to stay one night in Dallas but that’s it!
Chomp: How would you describe your style to someone who has never listened to your work?
Cloe: More recently it’s been a little more dark and you know I’ve been making all of my music in my bedroom so a little bit of bedroom envy too.

Chomp: Okay that makes sense, and you said more recently so how has it changed over time?
Cloe: Before it was straight pop. It wasn’t very bubblegum it was more dark pop but now I think we’ve gotten more alternative and more unique.
Chomp: What are your goals as a musician for next year?
Cloe: I would love to tour and I know that’s probably unrealistic right now because of the pandemic but hopefully by 2021 we can do that again. I want people to hear me and touring is one of the best ways to do that but right now I’ve been taking advantage of social media which has been really good for me too. I would also love to be signed to a major label.
Chomp: If you had to listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
Cloe: Oh that is such a good question. It would probably be Video Games by Lana Del Ray. I would probably listen to her, she is so soothing.
Chomp: Pieces of advice for young girls trying to get into the business?
Cloe: Don’t sign any contracts in the very beginning, don’t sign anything that feels strange...honestly just don’t sign anything. I was lucky to have my mom helping me with looking over contracts and I almost signed one in the very beginning and then she realized it was horrible. Don’t make things permanent super fast and write what you feel, instead of trying to be trendy. At first I was trying to write about things that were trendy instead of what I actually wanted to write.
